1978

The First Dion's Opens

Our founder opens the original dion's on Academy Road NE in Albuquerque, NM. The menu is simple — hand-stretched pizzas, fresh salads, and a genuine love for the craft. Lines form on opening day and never really stop.

1983

The Famous Green Chile Pizza

dion's introduces its signature New Mexico green chile pizza — a bold, locally-sourced creation that becomes an overnight sensation and defines dions pizza for generations to come. It remains our #1 seller to this day.

1990

Expansion Begins

Driven by overwhelming community demand, dions opens its second location in Rio Rancho. The same recipes, same standards, same heart — just closer to more New Mexico families. Three more locations follow within five years.

1999

Best Pizza in Albuquerque

The Albuquerque Journal names dion's "Best Pizza in Albuquerque" — an honor we've proudly received multiple times since. Community recognition fuels our commitment to quality above all else.

2005

Dion's Gives Back Program
